TAKE ACTION
What Can You Do?
1. Stay informed! Both nationwide and in your local area, keep up to date on the latest in education. Read, watch and listen to news and commentary whenever possible.
2. Keep talking! From your neighbors and members of your community to your connections across the country, keep up the dialogue about what our schools need and ideas to achieve our educational goals.
3. Persevere! Change is inevitable—so let’s make it for the better!
How can you help in your area?
1. Attend school board meetings, local school social/community functions, etc.
2. Volunteer available time and resources to meet the educational needs of the schools, students, parents, and teachers in your area.
3. Demand competitive results: if one of the schools in your area is outperforming others, whether public, private, or even homeschool groups, take action to ensure that the rest rise to the challenge and produce the same quality results.
What can parents do?
Parents must step up and become more active in their children’s education. Inspect what you expect.
1. Attend ALL parent/teacher conference meetings.
2. Ask questions.
3. Know what your children are being taught in school.
4. Hold officials/teachers accountable for your children’s education. While you are doing your part, make sure they are doing theirs.
5. Be involved in your child’s homework.
Don’t just stand there … do something!
